In 2010 TEAMSurvivor Madison, Inc., unveiled a Madison first—The Capital Lakes DragonFest. What’s a dragon boat festival? Take a 40-foot boat, 20 paddlers, a steersperson, a drummer, multiply by 25, sprinkle with 1000 spectators and volunteers and you make a splash! More than 500 paddlers from community, corporate, and family teams “paddled with a purpose” on Lake Wingra as nearly 1000 spectators and volunteers cheered from the shore at Vilas Park. In 2011, the event hopes to grow to 40 teams and double the energy of the community. The impact of TEAMSurvivor Madison, Inc., a local, all-volunteer, 501c(3) non profit organization resounds year round through free or low-cost fitness programs for women surviving any cancer diagnosis. We invite you to join our efforts of thriving and surviving through sponsorship of the 2nd annual Capital Lakes DragonFest.
